The seated leg curl trains the hamstrings through knee flexion from an upright, well-supported position. Sitting with a pad locked across your thighs, you bend your knees to draw your heels down and under the seat, then return under control — isolating the backs of the legs while the seat and thigh pad keep everything else pinned in place. The seated angle puts the hamstrings in a lengthened position as you curl, which many lifters find gives an especially strong stretch and contraction compared with the lying version, making the two a good pair rather than duplicates. It shares the machine's virtues: precise, easy-to-adjust loading and a low skill floor that suits beginners, plus it strengthens the muscles that stabilize the knee. The one thing to watch is letting your thighs lift off the pad or rushing the reps, which shifts the work away from the hamstrings and can strain them. Keep your thighs pinned, control the tempo, and pause briefly at the bottom. It's a clean, reliable hamstring accessory.
