Rope Triceps Pushdown

The rope pushdown is the pushdown's slightly better-contracting cousin, swapping the fixed bar for a rope handle. It's the same elbow-extension movement against a high cable, but at the bottom you spread the two ends of the rope apart, which lets your wrists rotate into a natural position and your hands travel a little farther — squeezing the triceps a bit harder at full extension than a straight bar allows. That extra bit of range and the neutral grip are the whole point: you get a stronger peak contraction and less wrist strain, which makes it a comfortable, productive choice for accumulating triceps volume. Like any pushdown, it's simple to set up and the load adjusts in seconds. The mistake to avoid is flaring your elbows or shrugging to move more weight, which shifts the work off the triceps and onto the shoulders and can nag the wrists. Pin your elbows, spread the rope at the bottom, and control the return. It's a small tweak on a staple that many lifters prefer.
