Calf Press on the Leg Press

The calf press turns the leg-press machine into a heavy calf builder when a dedicated calf station is taken or unavailable. With your legs already extended on the sled and only the balls of your feet on the bottom edge of the platform, you press the weight up by extending your ankles, then let it come back down for a full stretch — isolating the calves against the sled's load while your legs stay locked. Its advantage is access and load: nearly every gym has a leg press, it handles serious weight easily, and the seated, supported position makes it approachable for beginners who aren't ready to balance under a standing machine. The resistance adjusts in seconds, and the long platform allows a big stretch at the bottom. The expected limitation is that, like other bent- or supported-position work, it tends to build less overall calf size than a true standing raise where you're loaded upright. Keep your feet secure on the edge, press through a full range, and pause at the stretch. It's a reliable, widely available calf option.
